About the other Sin City DVD release
"... when people watch DVDs, they complain 'oh, the only thing about home entertainment is you miss that audience experience.' Well, the best audience is in Austin, especially for a movie that was made there. We showed the premiere with the actors there in a 1500-seat theater, and they would go crazy and Sin City got a big reaction. I recorded the audience in 5.1 so if you're watching the DVD and you want to see it with an Austin audience on premiere night, you just click a button and they're all there going 'aaaah!' so it's really cool."

last weekend's dvd trilogy
Back in the 80's, before "American Psycho", Christian Bale ( soon to be forever linked with Batman) was in "Empire of the Sun". This may be my favorite Spielberg film. There was a sequel to the book the movie was based on: The Kindness of Women. I've always wanted to read it. How does that boy from Empire become the sick pervert from Crash? Random Fact: The screenplay was by Mr. "Shakespeare in Love" himself, Tom Stoppard.
- "When he produced Crash in 1973, legend has it that one publisher marked in her notes, "writer beyond psychiatric help"
- About "Crash"..Ballard himself called it "the first pornographic book based on technology"
- "My Wife is a Gangster" became the first Korean film to ever be sold to a U.S. studio for a remake. [ review ]
- Imagine "Miss Congeniality" spliced with "The Godfather", with the fight sequences of "Charlie's Angels" thrown in, and you'll have a pretty good idea what to expect in "My Wife is a Gangster".
Shinichiro Watanabe is such a genius. The standout on this volume is an episode in which an opium crop is burned during a Samurai stand off. Wackyness ensues.

80's nostalgia - cartoons

Coming in August: ThunderCATS: Season 1, Volume 1
Coming in July: The Best of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
According to this, a classic cartoon special from the 80's will see the light of day: He-Man/She-Ra Christmas Special. ( another review of it here )
Already out and I didn't even know: M.A.S.K ( Hell, even C.O.P.S is out on DVD )
Now all that is left to come out is Silverhawks! I've yet to meet anyone who remembers Beverly Hills Teens which came out way before 90210.

Ah, the early 90's, when Seinfeld was king and US magazine was not a piece of a trash I would not even use to pick up dog crap with.

Something's Gotta Give: Best part of this dvd is having the Spider-Man 2 trailer in sorrund sound. I'm still bitter about Scarlett Johansson losing to Diane Keaton at the Golden Globes.

The Matrix Revolutions: I could not even get through a second viewing, I just skipped to the Superman vs Captain Marvel like fight at the end. All the cool flying reminds me of Dark City. Did anyone else notice the homage to Akira's Neo-Tokyo explosion? Anyways, this movie just proves again what a colossal fluke The Matrix was. I am curious about their screenplay for Alan Moore's "V for Vendetta" and what their next movie is going to be. As far as the extras, I am midly interested in the Matrix Online game that's hyped on here.

21 Grams: Director Alejandro González Iñárritu is 2 for 2 as far as making films about loss and suffering. This movie is sort of like an acutely depressing Pulp Fiction (style-wise). I would of much rather have seen Sean Penn win an Oscar for this. Naomi Watts will forever be Jet Girl in my heart.

Next one I'm watching is Cheaper By The Dozen, although I may feel like watching some serious Steve Martin, as in The Spanish Prisoner.
