Children show scars like medals. Lovers use them as secrets to reveal. A scar is what happens when the word is made flesh. It is easy to display a wound, the proud scars of combat.

I'm martyr to a motion not my own

Quintessence_ii_by_clarapalmer444px
Quintessence II by Clara Palmer

I Knew a Woman
Theodore Roethke

I knew a woman, lovely in her bones,
When small birds sighed, she would sigh back at them;
Ah, when she moved, she moved more ways than one:
The shapes a bright container can contain!
Of her choice virtues only gods should speak,
Or English poets who grew up on Greek
(I'd have them sing in chorus, cheek to cheek.)

How well her wishes went! She stroked my chin,
She taught me Turn, and Counter-turn, and stand;
She taught me Touch, that undulant white skin:
I nibbled meekly from her proffered hand;
She was the sickle; I, poor I, the rake,
Coming behind her for her pretty sake
(But what prodigious mowing did we make.)

Love likes a gander, and adores a goose:
Her full lips pursed, the errant note to seize;
She played it quick, she played it light and loose;
My eyes, they dazzled at her flowing knees;
Her several parts could keep a pure repose,
Or one hip quiver with a mobile nose
(She moved in circles, and those circles moved.)

Let seed be grass, and grass turn into hay:
I'm martyr to a motion not my own;
What's freedom for? To know eternity.
I swear she cast a shadow white as stone.
But who would count eternity in days?
These old bones live to learn her wanton ways:
(I measure time by how a body sways.)

Dear John, I'm leaving behind an ipod

That__s_what_she_said____by_wacia
That's what she said... by ~Wacia

Dear You,

I'm leaving. Inside your favorite book I have left an Ipod with a mix of songs that remind me of you. All your drama and mystery. Your story-like, or cinematic sense about Love. I based it only on songs, musicians and albums I know you're connected to. Why is it that sometimes you meet someone when it is the right time for you but not the right time for them? And then it becomes the wrong time for both of you. You may then have to find reasons to be disillusioned, piece by piece, in small bites, when you are really being amazed, every time you see them, by leaps and bounds. I also included a few other playlists, these are my maps of you.

> U2 - Original Of The Species
> The Velvet Underground - Femme Fatale
> The Smashing Pumpkins - 1979
> Leonard Cohen - The Future
> John Cale - Dying On The Vine
> Tori Amos - Cloud On My Tongue
> Regina Spektor - Real Love

Love generally...

Mix_oct07_collection

"Love generally but do not commit yourself to a particular love. You will become known as sympathetic friend and faithful lover because you never really permit these roles to seize your heart, you can practice and perfect them. But the heart is guarded, kept free and untarnished by any simple human affiliation so that it will reflect in glorious accuracy all the charts of the stars which the clouds one day will part to reveal. The important thing is not to approach anyone too close because tomorrow you may have become pure light."

[ love is an overwhelming currency: a mix ]

When we hold each other, in the darkness, it doesn't make the darkness go away. The bad things are still out there. The nightmares still walking. When we hold each other we feel not safe, but better.'It's all right' we whisper, 'I'm here, I love you.' and we lie: 'I'll never leave you.' For just a moment or two the darkness doesn't seem so bad.

Last Year's Man

Last Year's Man
The rain falls down on last year's man, an hour has gone by and he has not moved his hand. But everything will happen if he only gives the word; the lovers will rise up and the mountains touch the ground. But the skylight is like skin for a drum I'll never mend and all the rain falls down amen on the works of last year's man.
Leonard Cohen

Romantic Desires As Inconveniences

Annarosakraucouple

"I've had a revelation about you", she said. I became worried. There are only a few things she could transparently know about me. She doesn’t know her power over me and it is my job to never let her know. It is time for an extreme exercise in discipline, so that she doesn't pick up the faint smell of a broken heart.

[ Romantic Desires As Inconveniences ]

I.
“That’s the nature of women; not to love when we love them, and to love when we love them not.”
Miguel Cervantes

The Velvet Underground | Some Kinda Love
I want you | I Want You | iwantyou because All I want is You .
Beck & Sia | The One That I Want

II.
“Thinking up lovers is thinking about lovers you don’t have or miss”
Kathy Acker

Lou Reed | Ecstasy
Tegan and Sara | Dancing in the dark [video]
Giant Drag | Wicked Game
The Ramones | I wanna be Your boyfriend

III.
"What you tell me about in the nights. That is not love. That is only passion and lust. When you love you wish to do things for. You wish to sacrifice for. You wish to serve."
Ernest Hemingway

Dresden Dolls | Dance Me To The End Of Love [video]
Teddy Thomas | Tonight Will Be Fine
Radney Foster | Baby I'm In
Rooney | Here Today, Gone Tomorrow
Tom Waits - Somewhere
