Keep On Going
Karl KrolowI go around some street corners
and have an idea in my head clear as a picture
of time between March and October.
I like the cut-out
I'm moving around in,
slowly, toward change,
dying of something, while I
just keep on going, at least for the moment -
how do you write about
still being alive
among objects that are all used up
and possessions that shine,
lists without specifics, so to speak?
Some things just wait for me
to stop defending myself.
In the air
shining insects.

Friday Night Lights needs saving again?
+ How can we save 'Friday Night Lights'?
"Though many people have assumed that the show's theme song is also by Explosions in the Sky, it is actually the work of W.G. Snuffy Walden, who composed the themes for "The West Wing" and "My So-Called Life," and Bennett Salvay."

+ What I Learned About Video Games From ‘Lost’
+ Surfer Girl Reviews Star Wars: The videogame based on Lost was so terrible that when the company sent it to Sony for approval, they refused, saying "no, your game is too boring and has no gameplay, we don't want it on the Playstation 3." This videogame will beat records at being bad and will bomb really hard.
+ 'Lost': Matthew Fox Flash Forwards to Season 4
+ "Lost": Doc Jensen Returns! "According to sources, if Lost can't resume work by Jan. 31 (the same
date the new season premieres), it will start becoming logistically impossible

With the release of "Razor" and Season 1 on HD-DVD, next week is a good week to be a Battlestar Galactica fan. I stand by the fact that unlike "Lost" and "Heroes", BSG didn't fuck up their second season and remains pristine in their legacy as one of the best television shows of this decade.

Pilot Season
Comments you didn't ask for, about shows you haven't seen.
In order of Most Liked...
//Pushing Daisies
The beginning is very "Amelie" inspired. When it is all said and done I felt a Tim Burton "Big Fish" vibe going on mainly in the art direction. This may be one of the most romantic and sweet shows on television next season. Mind you, I made the "Big Fish" connection before reading the ABC page stating that this show comes from the producers of "Big Fish". It's just so obvious.
+ Trailer
+ Daisies To Push Romance
//Reaper
I'm still not forgiving the CW for canceling Veronica Mars but this will do. Even though Kevin Smith is involved the show is Funny! Twin Peaks Alumn Watch #1: Ray Wise as the Devil. Beck's "Devil's Haircut" perfectly used in the soundtrack.
+ Trailer
+ The CW's ‘Reaper’: Don't Fear It!
+ What in the world does Kevin Smith have to do with NBC's Heroes?
+ Meet the cast
//Chuck
This show has the "Alias" vibe down. Hell, I even thought it was an ABC show and started panicking about how they would find a way to fuck it up. Thankfully its on NBC. Finally a good fit to follow "Heroes" on Mondays. Never has a show featured so many Nerdy references. The second show to feature "Beck" in the soundtrack.
//Bionic Woman
Wow, Stabuck is evil! The Bionic Woman vs Bionic Woman fight was great. I'm Sold! Twin Peaks Alumn Watch #2: Miguel Ferrer as the leader of the Government Bionic whatever project.
I also watched the pilot for "The Sarah Connor Chronicles". It stunk.

LOST IN KALININGRAD: Tribute to the Lost series shot in Russian woods
I felt like lying down by the side of the trail and remembering it all. The woods do that to you, they always look familiar, long lost, like the face of a long-dead relative, like an old dream, like a piece of forgotten song drifting across the water, most of all like golden eternities of past childhood or past manhood and all the living and the dying and the heartbreak that went on a million years ago and the clouds as they pass overhead seem to testify (by their own lonesome familiarity) to this feeling. Ecstasy, even, I felt, with flashes of sudden remembrance, and feeling sweaty and drowsy I felt like sleeping and dreaming in the grass.

It’s a pretty simple town
I think the major characteristic Lost and Twin Peaks share is starting out about one thing and turning out to be about another( "The owls are not what they seem" vs "I looked into the eye of the island, and what I saw...was beautiful" ). As questionable and misguided as Season 2 of Twin Peaks ended up being, it is a crime that it has not arrived on DVD already. I mean, this is the season that invented The X-Files after all.
Random Cast Notes:
// The Twin Peaks - Big Love cast connections: Laura Palmer's mom is Bill's mom in Big Love & Roman was in Fire Walk With Me.
// Alicia Witt ( who "turned down the role of Mary Jane Watson in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man" *) appeared in Twin Peaks once.
// What are the chances? Almost the same costume for two series. In Twin Peaks & in Stargate SG-1

the best 2 hours of the 04-05 tv season
My favorite 2 hours of the 2004-2005 TV season:
LOST - Walkabout - The origin of Locke.
House - Three Stories - The origin of Gregory House M.D.
Coincidentally both of the above deal with legs/walking. Terry O'Quinn deserves an Emmy.
Biggest Disappointment of the season: ALIAS.

what shields me from bad television
Over the weekend I got to watch the first episode of the new season of The Shield. Damn that show only gets better. Glenn Close makes a smooth transition into the show and the new dynamics of the former strike team are revealed (hello apprentice vs master complex). Unlike other revamps this season (24 and Alias), this one doesn't feel like it at all. It feels like the correct progression of the story instead of some desperate attempt to get more viewers. Another feature of this season: early 90's tv actors like Anna Maria Horsford ( at leas I think that was her playing someone from the DA's office. First show I think about when I see her is "Amen") and Anthony Anderson ( First show I think about when I see him is "Hang Time" ).

"Lost" is my favorite TV show. I watch it while wearing a shirt that says "Jack Bauer: Stay Out of CTU", born out of a friend saying "Why do they even let this guy in at CTU, he's nothing but trouble". I would rather wear a Locke shirt. When is ABC going to get on the ball with some "Lost" merchandise.

Dear "I love the 90's" could you be more lame? "Quantum Leap" did not start in 1993, it started in 1989 you @#!! morons! Makes me wonder what else they got wrong...oh yah, "Jagged Little Pill" came out in 1995 and I don't remember "You Oughta Know" taking a year to break, I thought it was a summer hit single, so try again "I love 1996".
