The first episode of this Kickstarter is out: Damsel in Distress (Part 1) Tropes vs Women
Random Thoughts
- Why hasn't there been a Zelda game starring Zelda?
- Lara is a great lead female character in the new Tomb Raider game. Progress! Watch the starting cinematic set up:
- I like the fact that in the simplest terms the summary for Bioshock Infinite is literary "saving a damsel in distress in a castle in the sky". I can't wait to see the subversion of that trope.
"BioShock Infinite US TV Commercial. This is the short version. The full version will be set to air during The Walking Dead on Sunday."
+ Bioshock Infinite Grasps the Cultural Chalice: With Bioshock Infinite mixing shooting, religion and politics Andy Robertson sat down with Ken Levine to talk Christianity, artificial companions and video-game violence.
+ Let’s talk about Anita Sarkeesian
Let me explain how I think of this year: There are two parts to it - (B.B) and (A.B). BEFORE BIOSHOCK and AFTER BIOSHOCK1
As far as games coming out B.B, the only one I'm buying is this one:
+ This Is What Romance Looks Like In Fire Emblem: Awakening
I got into Fire Emblem with the Wii game and hope to actually complete this once. Also, even when finished, Nintendo has more stages and characters for download on a weekly basis.
How modern of old ass Nintedo. Speaking of them, I found this in my closet the other day:
1 I hope the year then turns into (BU2) Before the new U2 Album and (AU2) After new U2 album. *fingers crossed*
In the various Fire Emblem games, if a character dies in combat, they will be permanently dead, though one loophole is to restart the battle from the beginning (The game saves the number of deaths in even if the player restarts). If a player chooses to finish the battle after a party member dies, they will be permanently lost. In some situations, goals of the missions are to keep one character alive, so that loss instantly ends the level and forces the player to start that battle from the beginning. In all cases, the main player character must not die under any circumstance—the death of this character will result in a Game Over.

+ Bill O’Reilly Talks About Video Games and Violence and Ends Up Being Somewhat Reasonable About It All
Sorry but I don't buy into "Violent" Video games being a problem. The sentiment behind this is fine but tying it to video games, nah.
+ Video Games And The Sandy Hook Shooting: Two Very Different Reactions
#1: I don't know where my SUPER NINTENDO is at. It's really irritating me right now. What in the fuck? Amazon is selling a brand new copy of A Link To The Past?
#2: I'm very sad that I can't afford a stupid WiiU even though that name is stupid. WiiHD would of been so much better.
The Witcher 2: Enhanched Edition
Such an amazing RPG. There's a point where the game changes direction based on one decision you make. I played both decisions and was amazed at how completely different things went down. It really is two huge fantastic games. I eagerly await a third game on the next generation of consoles.
Mass Effect 3
The ending was a clusterfuck but the journey and the people we met along the way. What a fucking classic Epic Sci-Fi thing I want to share with all my friends.
STREET FIGHTER X TEKKEN
I've been playing Street Fighter for 25 years and I'm never going to stop. Chun-Li is my homegirl.
Lumines: Electronic Symphony
The reason I got the PS VITA. That's how much I love LUMINES, I bought a device with a very unknown future but a gorgeous screen and Lumines is the best game to tune out the world and get lost in Music and Puzzles.
It gave me the Bioshock vibe and wonder I have not felt since 2007 when Bioshock came out. It's been a long time coming for a game to capture ambiance and cool gameplay, powers, setting, story and voice actors ( Susan Sarandon, Chloe Moretz, John Slaterry et al)
Journey
It has to be expiranced to be understood. Fucking brilliant soundtrack.
XCOM: ENEMY UNKNOWN
Brilliant Addictive Turn Based Strategy on a console? A Miracle.
This is Eden Hain, part of the Youtube teenage generation that now exists. This cover of "Still Alive" is adorable.
Also there's this cover of it which I had never seen but found via Eden's blog:
